Sessions will be held in the College of Charleston's magnificient new Marion and Wayland H. Cato Jr. Center for the Arts which opened in January of this year.

From his groundbreaking transcriptions of Radiohead to his unforgettable interpretations of classic and new repertoire, pianist Christopher O'Riley redefines the possibilities of classical music. He takes his unique vision to both traditional classical music venues and symphonic settings, as well as to entirely new audiences on the radio, TV, performances halls, universities and even clubs. As host of the most popular classical music radio show on the air today, “From the Top” (nationally distributed on National Public Radio and now TV), Mr. O'Riley works and performs with the next generation of brilliant young musicians.
Mr. O'Riley's concert is a joint presentation of SCMTA and the College of Charleston International Piano Series.

Duke is the Director of the Center for Music Learning at the University
of Texas at Austin. His research on human learning and behavior spans multiple

Sheila
Paige, Executive Director of the Piano Wellness Seminar, has over 30 years
experience in the work of Dorothy Taubman and an extensive background in Alexander
Technique. She has also been a faculty member of the Dorothy Taubman Institute
and is currently a faculty member of the Dorothy Taubman Seminar. Ms. Paige’s
reputation as a teacher attracts pianists nationally and she commutes to Dallas,
Austin, Knoxville, Nashville, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Charlotte, Raleigh, Phoenix,
and Memphis to teach on a regular basis.

Initiation into Dalcroze Eurhythmics

Diana Popowycz is the co-founder of the Suzuki Strings of Madison. She received her BA from DePaul University and MS from the UW -Madison. Her Suzuki training has been with Kyoko Fuller, Kay Slone, Ed Kreitman, Teri Einfeldt, Margery Aber, Paul Landefeld, Alice Joy Lewis along with string pedagogy work with Mimi Zweig. Diana holds a Dalcroze Eurhythmics Certificate from Carnegie Mellon University and has completed summer course work at Longy and Manhatten School of Music.

Get Out of that Musical Box: Teach Students How to Compose!

Diane W. Higgins is an Independent Piano and Composition Instructor, and she has maintained a music studio in the Charlotte area for over 30 years. Her composition students have won first place prizes in state, regional, national and international competitions, and several of these compositions have been published in the National Piano Explorer Magazine, sponsored by Clavier Companion Magazine.

Seth Custer is a native of East Grand Forks, MN, where he grew up studying the saxophone and piano. He earned his Ph.D. in composition from the University of Iowa, where he studied with composer David Gompper. Custer remains active as a performer and composer, and is currently a member of the theory faculty at Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. Recent commissions include works for saxophone/tape, youth orchestra, and saxophone/string quartet..
