A CERTIFICATION PROGRAM
is available through the Music Teachers National Association to improve the
level of professionalism within the field of applied music teaching. The certified
music teacher is identified to the public as one who is recognized in the
music profession and as one who meets professional standards. Certification
provides motivation to the music teacher to reach and maintain professional
growth through study, performance, leadership, and professional activities.
Candidates who meet the standards required for MTNA certification receive
the designation of Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM). All music
teachers actively engaged in the profession are eligible for MTNA Professional
Certification.
Applying for MTNA Professional Certification has just been made easier with
the availability of fillable forms on the MTNA Certification Web site. Applicants
may now go to the Web site, bring up the appropriate forms, type in the information
requested, and print them out for submitting to MTNA. The forms are available
for applicants seeking initial certification as well as for those seeking
renewal. To check out this new service provided by MTNA, visit the MTNA
Certification Web site.
